Apr 21, 2019 at 4:29 comment added LinkBerest - SO sold our work @Cyn as an example of what you are saying (it can be hard to simply research magic & religion): the history of magic is complicated in Judaism (and the detailed explanation way out of scope for here) but some of it has definitely been allowed. Research the ma’asit branch of Kabbalah for instance.
Apr 8, 2019 at 14:46 comment added Cyn Magic is also not allowed in Judaism or Christianity. Yet all 3 religious traditions have multiple stories about magic. As someone brought up on the thread, the entire Aladdin story and many others within Islam. Plus Golems in Judaism and some of the fairy tales in Christian Europe (some crossover with Paganism, but I digress). It may not be allowed to attempt to practice in real life, but that's not the same as writing fantasy.

Apr 7, 2019 at 19:21 comment added JBH That last paragraph doesn't work for me. It can be equally applied to every question asking about culture, philosophy, law, etc. It basically suggests burning a dozen or more tags. Asking how an existing religion can be modified is not the same as inventing a new religion.
Apr 7, 2019 at 16:28 comment added The Square-Cube Law @Raditz_35 The part about resesrch is to justify my downvote in the original question (look at the alt text for the downvote button in questions). The second half of my answer is about the closure vote.

Apr 7, 2019 at 16:23 comment added Raditz_35 So why instead of leaving the opportunity for someone to write an answer stating that islam and magic are incompatible no matter what, why is the thread closed? What you've written is common knowledge, at least not in non-islamic countries. I don't think many people would take people writing on the net about how magic is not very well received in Islam as proof that there is no possibility, how do you do your basic research according to you? Additionally, I think what you've stated is at the very least debatable, Islam has a history of 1.5k years and many things did happen during that time.
