I have some concepts for locations and characters that I would I would like to have drawn. I've sketched things out myself but honestly...not that great at art.

From conversations I get the feeling we would have decent demand for artists on the site which got me wondering if we have any that frequent the site already.

Looking for artists:

  • Digital or hand drawn works
  • Willing to take commissions, at least intermittently

If you fit the bill or know someone that does post an answer per artist below.

Postings should include

  • Media used
  • Links to other works for reference
  • Contact information
  • Preferred payment method

  • $\begingroup$ Something in particular or any kind of art? $\endgroup$ – Vincent Feb 11 at 20:50
  • $\begingroup$ You could ask on Arts and Crafts.SE, they probably have a lot of artists who would like to help. $\endgroup$ – John Locke Feb 11 at 20:51
  • $\begingroup$ @Vincent I mentioned "Digital or hand drawn works" are you looking for more information than that? $\endgroup$ – James Feb 12 at 15:25
  • $\begingroup$ Not sure I understand the close votes, we discuss community projects and organization in meta all the time... $\endgroup$ – James Feb 12 at 15:26
  • $\begingroup$ I voted to leave open because I think the question is reasonable, even if it's about an off-topic topic. $\endgroup$ – Cyn Feb 12 at 16:36
  • $\begingroup$ Me? Mostly maps, flags, logos, that sort of stuff. Has it been considered to open a page on Deviant art for Worldbuilding SE? While we don't have a lot of drawn works, we do have a lot of written works (like those on the blogs). $\endgroup$ – Vincent Feb 12 at 23:27
  • $\begingroup$ It's so rare to see a closed question on meta that I had to look. According to the help center page about meta, Meta's purposes include allowing "users to communicate with each other about Worldbuilding Stack Exchange (asking questions about how the websites work, or about policies and community decisions)." Technically, technically, James' question isn't about site operations - but it is about worldbuilding and I believe it should be a community decision to permit this kind of resource question in Meta. (I vote yes.) $\endgroup$ – JBH Feb 13 at 19:58

$\begingroup$ I don't think sort of question belongs here. It opens up too many ways to abuse it. Either with potential artists who dabble in world building posting here looking for commissions/work or us maintainings lists of artists, map makers, story writers, game developers, musicians and so on. These are all parts of worldbuilding, but it isn't suitable for this site. There is no need to restrict all worldbuilding just to here. Better for us to promote other resources which focus on those aspects. $\endgroup$ – Shadowzee Feb 15 at 6:24

This is a good question and a good service, but not something that belongs on Worldbuilding.

We've talked before about making canonical posts with reference links. Community wiki and hopefully kept up to date. Should we ever do that, this would be a good topic for one.

There already exist several sites for putting together writers and artists. Being one of those sites is not in line with what Worldbuilding does or should do, IMHO. But helping people find such sites is not unreasonable, though perhaps more on Writing.SE than here.
