Welcome to the newest post on Universe Factory, the blog of the Worldbuilding community:

Fenra’s Awakening by Secespitus (Warning! Mature content!)

In this story Secespitus starts exploring what it means to be a slave in a society where magic exists - and how to stand up against those pushing you down.

Be warned: this story has mature content that not everyone will be comfortable with!

A dream for a poor little girl from the slums, they said. There would never be such a chance again, they said. She would live a different life, they said. There were just a few details her father didn't tell her and her mother.

The first thing was that it wasn't really a scholarship. It was more of a payment. A payment for a slave.

When Gods Fear by Joe Bloggs

Piphael: So. I was running through a new routine for the AI kernel…

Nerephil (pointing at screen) : You used the old Saurian base image? The one that got GBM’d for being too philosophical?

Piphael: GBM? (realising) Oh, the Great Big Meteor kill-switch. Yeah, It’s a great base and I don’t want to re-run all the leadup. But I ran the sim for an extra microsecond, so any evidence of the previous intelligence should be well buried! [...]

Nerephil: OK then. Looks like all the activity happened before microsecond 10.. Can you bring up the logs for microsecond 7 through to 10?

Piphael (typing on his keyboard): Sure thing.. There. Whoa.

$\begingroup$ @kingledion authors thrive on comments, and I encourage you to leave him some on his posts. If you don't have a Medium account already, you can log in with Google, Facebook, or Twitter (like you do here on SE). I'm sure he'd welcome feedback! And yes, I agree that Jasper's work is excellent. (Tease: there's more coming.) $\endgroup$ – Monica Cellio Dec 23 '16 at 1:57

$\begingroup$ @MonicaCellio Do upvotes carry between blog post updates (have 24 accumulated over time or are they all from this one?) I'd ask elsewhere but we have no meta-meta-worldbuilding. $\endgroup$ – Zxyrra Dec 23 '16 at 22:51
  • $\begingroup$ @Zxyrra they accumulate over time. Instead of creating a bunch of individual meta posts, which would get out of hand, we're editing this post with each new blog post. Votes probably shouldn't be interpreted as votes on the specific blog posts. (If you want to know how those votes have changed over time, you could use the data explorer. But that won't tell you if that's why people are voting on this meta post.) $\endgroup$ – Monica Cellio Dec 25 '16 at 1:17

$\begingroup$ Dang, have we really written that much? I'm impressed. And thanks for putting this together. $\endgroup$ – HDE 226868 Oct 19 '16 at 2:07

$\begingroup$ We've written a bit, yes. (The volume is why I didn't add author names to this list -- I was already doing enough typing/cutting/pasting. If anybody else wants to, feel free.) $\endgroup$ – Monica Cellio Oct 19 '16 at 2:09

    $\begingroup$ @rand al'thor Add a second post. $\endgroup$ – Bellerophon Oct 24 '16 at 9:41

$\begingroup$ @randal'thor yes, as Bellerophon said, when we hit the 30,000-character limit on this post we'll just have to add another answer and divide up the entries. :-) $\endgroup$ – Monica Cellio Oct 24 '16 at 23:32

$\begingroup$ Going forward, we could consider dividing this list by month, especially if we plan to increase our output. $\endgroup$ – Jerenda Jan 18 '17 at 22:20
  • $\begingroup$ @Secespitus thanks for adding all those author credits! $\endgroup$ – Monica Cellio May 3 '17 at 13:11
  • $\begingroup$ @MonicaCellio No problem. I hope I got them all right with the second edit. I couldn't find/remember a username corresponding with Evan Hoffman Conlangs for Non-Linguists though. $\endgroup$ – Secespitus May 3 '17 at 13:48
